Security Alert – Unemployment Fraud

Unemployment fraud is rampant amid the Coronavirus pandemic, and imposters are filing claims for benefits using the names and personal information of individuals who have not yet filed claims. Victims of this crime only find out once they receive notification from their state unemployment benefits office or employer.

If this happens to you, someone is likely using your Social Security number and date of birth, so it’s important to react as soon as possible to protect yourself.

  1. Report the fraud to your employer and keep a record of your interaction with them.
  2. Report the fraud to your state’s unemployment benefits agency.
