Month in Review – October 2023

October Highlights

  • Equities struggled for the third consecutive month, as upward pressure on interest rates and geopolitical issues produced a headwind.

  • Fixed income indices generally declined slightly, as the yields on the two-year remained relatively stable while that on the ten-year U.S Treasury rose.

  • Significant headlines for the month included potential future interest rate moves by the Federal Reserve; the UAW strike; war in the Middle East; and wrangling in regard to the Speaker of the House.
