Christopher Thompson

Present Position

Managing Director, Institutional Sales with Northland Fixed Income, Kansas City, where his responsibilities include portfolio sales and management. Chris holds the following securities licenses:

  • General Securities Representative
  • MSRB Municipal Securities Registered Representative
  • Uniform Securities Agent – State Law Examination
  • Registered Investment Advisory Representative
  • Life Insurance Producers License

Background

Chris graduated with a B.A. in English Literature from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C. and earned his Master's degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Finance, from Rockhurst University, Kansas City, Missouri. In 1990 Chris joined the staff of John Rolf and Associates, C.P.A.s, where his responsibilities included the auditing of financial institutions. Chris joined the Investment Division of Country Club Bank in 1991. He worked in both the Operations and Trading units before joining the sales staff.

Activities

Chris was a faculty member of the Colorado Graduate School of Banking and has worked with state banking associations and regulatory agencies to educate their membership in various aspects of bond portfolio management, including: Leverage Strategies, Mortgage Backed Securities, Collateralized Mortgage Obligations, FASB 115, Mark-to-Market Accounting and many other investment related issues. Chris has also published investment-related articles in Florida Banker, Northwestern Financial Review, Bank News and has delivered educational presentations for the American Bankers Association, FHLB DesMoines, FHLB Boston, Sheshunoff / AS Pratt and other financial services and training firms.

Chris and his wife Julie have five children.
