Bank Terminology Glossary

By AMG

Cornerstone Advisors, a bank and credit union consulting firm, runs an excellent blog called "Gonzo Banker."  Earlier this month they posted a tongue in cheek (but in my experience very accurate) glossary of today's common banking terminology.  Here is the definition for ALCO Committee:

ALCO Committee – a weekly management meeting at which the CFO says there is no money to be made at the proposed margins and the heads of retail and commercial banking reply that if the bank wants to grow at all it had better match competitor rates.

That pretty much sums up my experience running ALCO/pricing meetings!

Check out the post, and the rest of their blog, for their perspective on current banking issues.  It is usually spot on and offers some good food for thought.
